Damien smiled. This was exactly how eccentric he wanted things to be. The crowd roared with excitement, and so did one of his opponents. A rather large reptile roaring to make magic null and void. Damien only smirked, knowing such a tactic would be next to useless against him, for his powers weren't magic, but gifts from God himself. He was one of the thirty six chosen humans on earth, each given a special gift in order to defend Earth from the horrors that be when the time arises.
His human body wasn't able to store all the energy required to wield his former angel powers, but his surroundings did. Like an endothermic reaction, the heat energy around him was absorbed into his body, getting ready to unleash it back out into the surroundings in the form of one of his abilities granted to him by The Lord. Using his powers over one of the seven virtues, Fortitude, he enhanced his physical strength, dexterity, and fortitude above that of a regular human. He quickly leapt to his left side to dodge the rolling ball of blades that was known as a sentient reptile.
"Impressive. You're going to have to do better than that though," Damien commented while tumbling back to his feet, "Try again!"

Dexad screeched to a halt, extending one gleaming arm to bring her body to turn around the point. She ended up flipping into the air, snapping her body open as she did so, and landed solidly on all fours, her vulnerable points tucked safely beneath her. She stared at Damien calculatingly.
"You're nowhere near human, are you?" she said at length. "I've seen stunts like that before... and I didn't like them any too much...." She stood up, smoothing back her feathers as her body shifted to normal make-up. "Call me a glutton for punishment, but I think I know how to deal with you...."
Then, before a reaction could be made, she shifted her arms into metal... and ripped them off. Staggering, Dexad grimaced as a pair of golden arms regenerated from her shoulders; until she reassimilated the originals, she'd be unable to transmute her arms. The pair on the ground bubbled, then reformed into two perfect likenesses of the original, both shrieking defiance at Damien, the audience, and each other.
"Heh, don't play too rough, now," Dexad smirked as she resumed her metal form. "I've got something else to take care of...." She rolled off toward the girl, as her two doppelgangers exchanged glances, and then went straight for Damien's throat with speed equal to that of the original....

Sam grinned as she saw the lizard rolling towards her. For the sake of politness, she fell down a few feet, to within striking distance. She raised her hand to start casting a weak double element sheild around her. from her hand, a thin bolt of lightning issued. She stared at her hand is surprise, but a moment later had re focused. "So, it seems you've been able to block my fire magic. Well, it was a gift from an alliy, and not originally mine, so it's never really been a part of me. As for the lightning...little change there, which is what I'd expect. Oh, but of course you don't know about that yet. Heh, you'll see later... although I know I should have been practcing my magic more. Look, it's quite a bit less powerful. Oh well, all is not lost, eh?" She flew in an arc above her opponent, landed behind it, and slashed at it with her sword. The blow was dodged, and Dexad tried runing into her, forcing her tofly stright upwards. Unable to see well what was above the covering of trees, Dexad had little idea that sam had halted in her path, and was dibving down, blade first.

"You're fast," Damien commented as the two dopplegangers lept at him, "But I'm faster!" And with that, he ducked and lept to the left, rolling several times before jumping back on his feet. That maneuver let him escape from an instant kill, but still gave him a few scrapes from the wicked claws the two dopplegangers owned.
he quickly spun around to face his opponents and smiled, "Looks like I'll only be able to rely on Fortitude for this fight. All my other virtues seem useless in this anti-magic field," He mummbled to himself, reviewing his powers that he had as an angel, "All except hope, but hope is too strong. I'm not going to bring a nuclear bomb into a sword fight," He looked at his right hand, which was open, and focused on his palm, gathering heat and light to form another one of his abilities. By redirecting the energy, he could boost his powers, or refocus them in a concentrated beam. This power was not granted by his virtues, but by his chosen human form. He pointed his palm at the right doppleganger, and let loose with a thin beam of concentrated heat and light, hoping it would be powerful enough to do some damage.

Each of Dexad's clones gave an identical evil smirk, and then both dodged in opposite directions... with speed to match Damien's!?! They skidded to a halt on opposite sides of their opponent, both with eyes gleaming in triumph.
"You are a fool," one remarked.
"You are a fool," echoed the other.
"We are Dexad's..."
"...ultimate weapon. You cannot hope..."
"...to defeat us as you are!" As the last word was spoken, both clones' eyes rolled back in their heads as they, too, focused, and fired identical beams of concentrated light and heat at their target, coupled with a sound that may have been laughter.
"For I am Dragora, the Shield Arm," snarled the first in a singsong voice.
"And I am Lanasu, the Sword Arm," the other finished her sister's sentence. "You cannot defeat us..."
"...because we can take your abilities..."
"...and make them our own!" Lanasu coiled her legs and pounced at Damien, claws extended. Below, Dragora began to focus her energies into the beam....

Dexad unrolled, staggered a couple of steps, and then shook her head violently. She looked left and right, stopped completely as she heard the triumphant cackles of her doppelgangers. Smirking, she clasped her golden hands together.
"They forget that the Beast has the advantage of the senses," she murmured, then pressed her palms against the floor between her feet. With a flash, it had changed into the same silvery metal as her clones. "Mufu, bottom's up!" She transmuted herself, and was one with the metal forest in a flash....

Damien was impressed by the doppleganger's abilities to copy his moves. He didn't bother to move away from the beams of light and heat, for he knew what they were made out of: light and heat. "Idiots," he said calmly, taking both beams and flying back, doing several flips in the air, only to land on his feet as gracefully as a cat.
The beams, although they burned his clothes, didn't seem to have any other effect than that. His muscles bulged slightly as some heat was returned to the environment. "Think of me as an endothermic reaction," He calmly started to talk as the two attacked, "I draw heat and light into myself and store that energy,"
He took another blast from the beam of heat and energy that one of the raptor like beings fired at him, releasing more heat into his surrondings, and easily dodged its twin's attack with his new boosted reflexes. He fell almost flat on the ground in order to dodge the reptile's pounce, and kicked up, using his hands to push against the ground and try to kick the first lizard with an extended leg, as he looked at the other one, who fired the beam from his mouth, and did the same.
"Not a bad idea," admited Damien as he opened his mouth wide and concentrated some of the newly absorbed energy from the beams and fired it back at the raptor-like creature in front of him.

[Just so we're clear, Dragora and Lanasu are golems constructed in Dexad's image, not reptiles, gir....]
The kick threw Lanasu for a loop, with the end result that she was completely disoriented and therefore unable to do much of anything to aid her counterpart, who had ended up in a beam-fight with Damien. She simply lay there for a few minutes to get her bearings back, and then, flattening her tail slightly, she raised her tail into the path of Damien's shot, the metal reflecting the light toward its source, but taking most of the heat.
Empowered, the fallen creature allowed the newly-acquired heat energy to diffuse through her body, superheating it as she absorbed her counterpart's attack for good measure. That done, she launched forward, finding in her supercharged mind that the excess of energy enabled greater movement for her, not less as it did for Dragora. At any rate, she had become something akin to a one-being flurry of blazing swords, moving in the same cadence as her opponent, but far deadlier.
Dragora broke off her attack as her counterpart started hers again, again showing the pair's penchant for perfect teamwork. This was her chance. She picked a pace and set it, running rings around the two combatants, so that she wouldn't miss anything Damien could pull out of his sleeves....

(Sorry once aghain for my absence)
Sam suddenly tried to halt in midair. She was just too slow, but nevertheless managed to land on her feet, and only mildly hurt herslef from the crash landing. Se cursed and jumped straight back up, just above the surface of the metal. "Hm..let's see how well this stuff conducts electricity, eh?" she murmered, as she threw a shpere of lightning at the metallc surface.

"Nya, thanks, girly!" Dexad yelled triumphantly as she flowed out of the floor, her body sparking with pent-up electricity. "Metal conducts electricity, but I'm a living battery!" She launched herself toward her opponent, turning her own attack against her....

"hmp, fine then. Fair enough". Sam just stayed where she was as the attack came. "But I think you'll see" she said, as her opponent hit her. "That I havecontrol over everythingto do with electricity". She held out her hand, and when Dexad hit the space a foot or so infront of it, she froze, being held in place by the electricity crackling off her. Sam grinned, dropping her hand, dropping Dexad to the ground as she did so. She landed a little way away, grinning still.

"Nyaa," Dexad groaned. "THAT was embarrassing...." Seething, she melted back into the floor, giving a roguish wink as she did so. "But it won't be a problem after awhile." From beneath the floor, it sounded as though Dexad had clasped her hands again, and the rest of the arena was transmuted into metal as well.
Seeing this as a signal, Dragora and Lanasu followed Dexad's suit, melding into the floor, both with perfectly identical insane cackles. "Let's try a little guessing game, shall we?" Dexad's voice echoed up from the floor. "Guess where I am, girly, and if you're right, I'll show myself. If not, well, you're open to an attack!"
"How will you do it?" Dragora piped in. "There's only-"
"-one way," Lanasu finished. "You have to attack the floor!"

(Sorry, but I can't get into this duel for some reason. It's wierd, I've really been trying, but I just can't do it...Sorry.)
Damien shrugged as the next assualt came at him. "My God has answered," he said calmly, before slowly fading out and dissapearing altogether.

Sam just stood there as her opponent dived into the floor. "And why would I want to do that?" she asked. "If you want to hide down there, that's fine. But I have no need to attack you. I could convinve them that I killed you, easilly....however, that would hardly be sporting, would it? My father always told me I should be nice to people, daft old bugger. so....." She raised her hand, and prepared to throw loads of lightning 'arrows' at the floor, when somethnig caught her eye "Well now, look at this. It seems that all the way down there, you have less power from your song. My firepower's back. Shall we see if i can melt a hole in you? Nah, that'd mke this over far tooquickly. Fine then, let's play your little game." She jumped up, getting a beter veiw of the scene, then made hundereds of little slivers of lightning, razor sharp, appera in the air. They whislted down, striking the matalic surface almost everywwhere all at once.
(Aww, that's a shame. No-one seems to like this apart from us two. WHy not? What's so cr** about it?)

["Crap" isn't a cuss word, so you're free to say it, Blob.]
"Chivalry will get you--" Dexad was cut off as at least a hundred of the arrows hit her at once, and found herself literally hurled out of her sanctuary and into plain sight. Judging from the excited shouts from the croud and simultaneous curses, Dragora and Lanasu had experienced the same problem.
"Okay, so that wasn't the best-laid plan," Dexad remarked icily. Dragora and Lanasu melted down, reattached themselves to her shoulders. "But then again, 'even an idiot-proof strategem never survives contact with the enemy,' as Dad used to say. Either that, or some dipstick invented a better idiot."
She crouched onto all fours, looking around. "But we have other plans." Spines sprouted from her hips and shoulders; those on her shoulders became narrow, draconic wings, while the ones on her hips became wide sails that pretty well turned her tail into a giant fan. The feathers at her elbows disappeared, while her crest became another sail-like frill. Her relatively weak underbelly crusted over, becoming hard scales. Clawlike projections appeared at the backs of her wrists; natural switchblades, to be extended and retracted at her leisure.
The metal faded from her body. Gone was the black and rust pattern of tiger stripes, though the white streaks around her eyes, hands, and feet remained. It was replaced with a boring pattern of monotone iron-grey, while the scales on her belly were ivory-white.
"Surprised?" she asked. Her voice had changed; it was deeper, more mature-sounding. Her mannerisms had changed as well; while Dexad the raptor had been almost eager to battle, this being appeared far more relaxed, much more languid than she had been before the transformation. "Dexad was weak. She was chosen for the arena only because she has multiple personalities, each stronger than the last."
She fanned her wings, caught air, and rose to Sam's level. She kept her sails smoothed against her body, to cut down on drag. "I am known in our circle as Nexus," she added lazily. "As I've said before, Dexad was weak, and a fool besides. You cannot very well expect to handle me so easily." The blade of her right rist extended to a length of about two feet, forming a wicked-looking natural sword. "Let us begin."

"Hmp well, this evens the odds out a bit, eh? However, That could've been a bad move. I've never had trouble killing anything before...except when my father interfered..lousy good-for-nothing moron. Anyway, where was I? Oh yes - You don't have power to stop my magic anymore. New body, new game, eh?" she laughed, as the threw a fireball at Nexus. Nexus dodged it, but Sam wasn't bothered. "And by the way, you don't want to see what I turn into when I'm in a corner, OK? I'd just quit now, if I were you". She raied her arm, and threw it back down. A large whirlwind of fire circled towards her opponent.
